Volunteers from the National Grid have been helping us transform our accommodation for formerly homeless people in Coventry.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to staff from National Grid in Warwick, who came and helped out today with tasks inside and out. The team have been hard at work painting walls inside the Old Vicarage, as well as gardening in the grounds.

Carrie Bury is one of these lovely volunteers; speaking about today she said: “We have really enjoyed our time volunteering at Emmaus. We’ve been working hard and have really made good progress.

“It’s great to help out a local charity as we’re based in Warwick.

“The National Grid is currently focusing on the importance of causes which help social mobility and so the way that Emmaus helps people who have been socially excluded really fits with that goal.”

The team’s help is greatly appreciated – the whole of the Old Vicarage is looking much more welcoming. The makeover will continue in a few weeks when a second team of volunteers from National Grid will join us for the day.

If your place of work can help out with group volunteering, please give us a call on 02476 651094.
