Employees from construction company Stepnell recently gave up a day of their time to volunteer at our homelessness charity.

Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire supports people who have experienced homelessness by giving them a home, meaningful work and the opportunity to regain lost self-esteem and rebuild their lives. The Stepnell team was tasked with helping to redecorate four bathrooms at our accommodation in the Binley area of Coventry; they painted walls and woodwork.

The volunteering took place as part of Stepnell’s charity partnership with Emmaus. The national construction company, headquartered in Rugby, has very kindly committed to support us through fundraising, volunteering and raising awareness.

Stepnell’s Social Value & Engagement Manager Elaine Kendall took part in the day: “Our team was delighted to lend a hand to help improve facilities at Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire, in support of all the fantastic work that Emmaus does to help end homelessness. Not only was the day a great team building exercise, but it was a very rewarding experience for colleagues, who are already asking when the next volunteering day with Emmaus will be.”

Chief Executive of Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire Julian Price said: “We’re delighted that Stepnell employees chose to give up their time to help us. The people we help can stay in our community for as long as they need to. Some stay for a short time in order to get themselves back on their feet before returning to independent living, but others will need longer-term support. The volunteers have helped to make our accommodation feel more like home, which is a very important thing.”
