We’re pleased and proud to share that our companions (the people we support) at Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire have helped raise £180 for Shine a Light Support Service.
Shine a Light is a local charity that supports children and young people with cancer, along with their families. Based in Coventry, the charity provides practical and emotional support for families across Coventry and Warwickshire. This includes counselling, play therapy, hospital visits and regular support groups for parents and carers. They work closely with hospitals and schools to help families cope during the toughest times.
The funds were raised through a collection box at our flagship charity shop on Red Lane in Coventry. After counting up the donations, our companions made the decision together to give the full amount to Shine a Light. Thanks so much to all our shop customers for their generous donations.
Why are we helping another charity?
Solidarity – helping others – is a big part of life at Emmaus. It’s at the heart of what we do. We regularly ‘pay it forward’ by supporting others in need, and these acts of solidarity can be powerful for our companions. Reaching out to help someone else is often a meaningful step in rebuilding confidence and self-worth after experiencing homelessness.
