Location: Binley, Coventry, CV3 2DT
Emmaus offers homeless people across the UK a fresh start in life with the support of a community around them. Our companions, the people we support, are at the very heart of everything we do, and solidarity, helping others less fortunate than yourself, is central to the Emmaus way of life. Everyone at Emmaus, including companions, staff, trustees and volunteers are encouraged to carry out acts of solidarity to support people who need it most. We also believe in the circular economy and have strong environmental credentials with our emphasis on re-use and recycling.
Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire (one of 29 Communities within the Emmaus federation) has been helping people who have been homeless, or at risk of homelessness since 1993. We currently have accommodation for 17 people. Our charity shop provides a commercial setting where our companions learn new skills. Our companions also collect bulky waste on behalf of local councils and provide a house clearance service.
We have come a long way, but we have big ambitions to grow our ability to help more people who are homeless. In the next five years our aim is to increase to 25-30 rooms and establish move-on accommodation. We want to grow and diversify our social enterprise offerings, increase our profile, and be a key player in the region, as well as being a voice that helps shape policy for those experiencing social exclusion.
We are in a strong financial position and are now looking for a forward thinking Chief Executive to work with our companions, staff, trustees and other key stakeholders to lead this next stage of our development.
We want a leader with vision, someone who will work collaboratively with external stakeholders and build networks and alliances in the community and across the region. Your substantial leadership experience will be coupled with an ability to be hands-on and your collaborative, inclusive and involving approach will empower and motivate our dedicated team. Furthermore, you will bring a strong commercial acumen and proven experience in growing and developing business opportunities and social enterprises, within homelessness or for socially excluded and/or vulnerable people.
Our ideal candidate will possess high levels of emotional intelligence, excellent interpersonal skills and be highly collaborative in their approach. A strategic mindset, good attention to detail, and solid financial acumen is important, as is the ability to roll your sleeves up and work closely with our companions.
We encourage applications from all backgrounds and are committed to having an organisation that is made up of diverse skills, experiences and abilities.
This is a wonderful role to take Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire onto the next level. We want to attract leaders who are brave, curious and bold, are solution focused and forward thinking and genuinely excited by the prospect of realising our further potential.
