Emmaus Colchester is delighted to have been awarded a grant of £7,400 from the Charities Aid Foundation’s (CAF) Coronavirus Emergency Fund.

Having lost income through the closure of its four shops in the town centre, and its house clearance service, the money is a much-needed boost for the charity that supports those who have previously experienced homelessness.

Denise King, CEO at Emmaus Colchester said: “We are very grateful to CAF for awarding us the grant, which will be spent on our support staff who provide emotional and practical support to our companions who live within our community, as well as on purchasing food and toiletry items.”

CAF is not only a charity, but a bank, which helps donors, companies and charities make a bigger impact with charitable giving. During the eight days that the CAF Coronavirus Emergency Fund was open for applications, it received almost 5,000 requests for nearly £40m worth of support.
