In just two weeks, eight brave fundraisers are jumping from 13,000 feet to raise money for Emmaus Colchester.
The fundraisers will be heading to Beccles Air Field on Saturday 8th June to jump out of an aircraft at 13,000 feet and speed down to earth at 120mph. You can cheer on our fundraisers by donating to their pages!
Two of the fundraisers taking on the exhilarating skydive are currently being supported by our charity and living in our community. Companions Chris & Michael have signed up the skydive to give back and support other people who are facing homelessness.
Chris says “Thanks to Emmaus, I’ve been given a life I never expected, and I fully intend to use it. In my mid-twenties when I was struggling the most with my addictions, I didn’t think I would make it. Now, I want to help other people in my position and raise money for Emmaus. I’ve always wanted to do a skydive. When I’m up there, I’ll be itching to get out of the plane!”
Michael, another of companion is also taking the leap on the 8th June, “As someone who has and still is benefitting from the support that Emmaus Colchester offers, it is my turn to put something back so I can support others.”
Taking part in the fundraising skydive alongside Chris & Michael is Emmaus Colchester’s Business Manager, Darren Scott, and employees from local Colchester businesses including Informa, Onsite IT, Barclays Bank, and Belvoir Sales & Lettings.
Brian Cook, our CEO says: “We’re so excited to see our fundraisers take the leap and experience the ultimate adrenaline rush at our fundraising day on the 9th of June! It means a lot to us that local businesses and friends of Emmaus are taking on this challenge and raising money for the work we do. We want to help more people out of homelessness and provide them with long-term solutions to get them back on their feet, and with the help of our supporters, we can do that. We would love to make the skydive an annual event and invite any individuals or businesses interested in taking the jump next year to get in touch with us.”
