Emmaus Colchester found a way to bring joy this Christmas despite being unable to run its usual Operation Christmas Appeal, where it invites the public to donate gifts for local families using the Colchester Foodbank.

Anita, operations and finance manager at Emmaus Colchester said, “We’ve received so much support for our Operation Christmas appeal in the past, that it was extremely sad that we were unable to run the campaign this year, due to COVID-19 safety concerns. Instead, we looked for other projects where we could help, while keeping our Community safe.

“We were delighted when Michele Perrin, Charity Coordinator at Colchester’s Sixth Form College asked us to help out with a special delivery of over 100 hampers. Staff, students and families of the College collected the gifts for Social Service users, which were delivered by our delivery driver, Rob. We hope the hampers spread some Christmas joy. Well done to everyone.”
