We now have our very own oasis of tranquility after staff and companions completed our new ornamental pond.

The pond dig-out started nine years ago but was left on hold until September 2023 when a team of volunteers from Cadent supported us with a whole host of tasks at the community, one of which was reinvigorating the pond.

Weed was removed, the rotten surrounding logs removed and the stones were retained. Recently, Emmaus staff and companions laid a new lining, cleaned the stones, planted beautiful water lillies and restored the pond back to its former glory.

Donna Talbot, Chief Executive of Emmaus Cambridge, said: “This project took nine years to come to fruition, thanks to a fantastic team effort from volunteers, companions and staff – a huge thank you to all involved! It was well worth the wait – it looks amazing!

“It’s a lovely place to relax on one of the benches and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We’re hopeful that dragonflies, other insects and frogs are attracted back to this inviting environment.”

Pictured relaxing around the pond and enjoying the results of their hard work are staff members John and Lewis and companions Shane and Alex – well done to all involved!

As the water is a little deep in the middle of the pond, please ensure children are supervised at all times.
