If so, Emmaus Cambridge is seeking a self-motivated and caring individual to join our experienced team. Based just off the A10 in Cambridgeshire you’ll find the home of 50 adults, of varying ages, who have committed to improving their lives through being part of a unique charity.
Emmaus Cambridge is a charity which provides structure and purpose through roles within its own social enterprise, helping people to break negative cycles and recognise their self-worth. Working alongside three experienced support colleagues (three support workers and a support manager), you’ll be part of a vital team that builds trust, confidence and ultimately resilience for people to either forge a new live outside of Emmaus or to continue helping others through the valuable work of Emmaus.

The work is wide-ranging and includes assisting companions with a variety of aspects from health matters and substance abuse recovery to creating personal development plans and securing external training opportunities. You’ll also help companions master life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and choosing healthier lifestyle options.
Our companions have either experienced homeless or been at risk of homelessness. They have lived with us for differing lengths of time and each has a personal story. Recognising progress and patterns of behaviour is key and therefore we require you to understand the importance of record keeping. You will be required to update information on our system, which will require a good IT skills. Training within our systems will be available as part of your thorough induction. You must be a good communicator and able to build connections with our companions and your colleagues to ensure that each companion can enrich their lives and achieve their goals.
You will require a full clean driving licence and insurance with business use specified. Due to the nature of the role and working with adults at risk, you will be subject to an enhanced disclosure and barring check which the charity will organise. In addition to the rewarding nature of the work and the ability to see the difference you are making daily, you will also be applicable for the following benefits:
