If you have visited our community in the last few weeks you may have seen the amazing murals on our delivery bay doors. These are the creation of one of the latest recruits to our Emmaus Cambridge team. Jamie joined our Finance Department at the beginning of the year. He previously worked for the council on various homelessness projects, and after visiting our community as part of his research, he fell in love with the community and knew that working at Emmaus Cambridge would be the perfect fit.

With a degree in Illustration, Jamie, worked right up until the last minute to complete the three murals in time for our 30th birthday celebration. The murals celebrate the three most profound people within our community. Firstly, Abbé Pierre, the Founder of the first Emmaus community (in France), Terry Waite CBE, President of Emmaus UK, and Selwyn Image, the Founder of Emmaus Cambridge.

Jamie said, “Since working for Emmaus Cambridge I have felt so welcome and quickly felt like part of the family. Emmaus Cambridge has given me the opportunity to use all the different skills that I have. Every day is different, which always makes it very interesting. I have always liked my previous jobs, but working at Emmaus is different, now I always look forward to coming into work!

“Emmaus Cambridge’s 30th birthday was a great celebration of all the work that has been done over the last three decades, and it was a privilege to be part of it!”.
