Yesterday we celebrated our 2018 Donor of the Year! Portia, with the support of AccessArt, raised an amazing £790 for our community last year. Portia, who is just 11 years old, raised a phenomenal £140 all by herself. She did this during the Christmas period by selling AccessArt Christmas cards in and around Cambridge. Education charity, AccessArt, held an art workshop and exhibition ‘The AccessArt Village’, comprising of more than 700 stitched houses by children in schools and hospitals and artists, which were sold in aid of Emmaus Cambridge in November last year, raising and incredible £650.

We chose Portia as our Donor of the Year because she is a great supporter of our community and gave a lot of her time to fundraise on our behalf. Portia said ‘This is such a good charity for homeless people. They don’t just make money they give people a home and somewhere to work.’

During the workshop Portia worked closely with one of our companions Séamus Fox who is the author of No Homeless Problem and Other Poems, she said ‘It was awesome to meet an author!’

Everyone at Emmaus Cambridge is delighted to present this award to Portia and is grateful for the support received from her and AccessArt.

Donations and support from the public are what help to make our community possible. If, like Portia, you want to get involved in supporting us please email [email protected]. Don’t forget you can Gift Aid your cash and furniture donations, which only increases the value of the donations we receive!
