Emmaus Cambridge is 30 years old! To celebrate, we’re inviting all our customers, supporters, staff, volunteers and companions to join us at our Landbeach community on Saturday 28th August 2021.

Join us between 10am and 4pm as we mark three decades of working together to transform the lives of those who have experienced homelessness. Click here to read the itinerary for the day! Also click here to check out our map to see all the amazing things happening on the day!

As well as all the brilliant shopping and bargain-hunting you know Emmaus Cambridge for, we’ll have live music, family fun and games, a BBQ and delicious food from the Joan’s Coffee Shop team.

Visitors will also get the opportunity to join a companion led tour “behind the scenes” of Emmaus Cambridge and visit the community house which is home to our 44 companions. This area is off limits to members of the public normally, so it’s a great opportunity to see for yourself what life within our community is like.

We’ve come a long way since the early days!

Our site at Landbeach was acquired in March 1991 when it was just two derelict buildings in a field. The site was worked on by volunteers, and our first companions moved into a couple of caravans on site later that year.

Since those early days the community has grown steadily and is now able to offer up to 44 companions a home and the opportunity to volunteer their time in what has now become a successful and self-sustaining social enterprise, collecting and selling people’s surplus goods.
