After two and a half years in partnership with Cadent, the UK’s largest gas distributor, we are delighted to report that the company has raised over £350,000 for Emmaus UK.
Alongside this fantastic amount, Cadent has also delivered an amazing 744 hours of volunteering and donated over £65,000 worth of goods and gifts in kind to support our work helping people with experience of homelessness.
There is much to celebrate and be grateful for as the partnership draws to a close.
Charlotte Talbott, CEO at Emmaus UK, said:
“We are hugely grateful for the support we have received from Cadent Gas over the last two and half years. Thanks to their fundraising efforts and volunteer hours, our communities are now more energy efficient and sustainable.
“The money communities are now saving on their energy costs means that there are more funds available to give the best possible support to our companions, and to keep providing safe and warm homes for as long as they’re needed.”
A Cadent spokesperson said:
“We have been happy to be helping homeless people through Emmaus, fundraising, volunteering and promoting their cause. Looking back at all the great things that were achieved by the partnership is incredible.
“One of our key commitments is working to keep customers safe, warm and independent in their homes. By supporting Emmaus and funding energy efficiency projects such as home insulations, solar panel installation and boiler replacements, we have been able to make a difference in our communities and support those who may be facing vulnerable living situations.
“Across the whole business, we have pulled together to raise an incredible amount of money, donate goods, and provide time and effort to volunteer. We hope the impact we have made will leave a strong legacy at Emmaus going forward.”
Huge thanks to everyone at Cadent for all the support they have shown. Here are some of the many ways Cadent has supported Emmaus communities.
There has been no end to the imagination Cadent colleagues have shown through their fundraising.
The partnership has seen them take on marathons, skydives, abseils, wolf runs, Tough Mudder, and even a bunny hop.
There also have been golf days, bake sales, musical bingo and Christmas gifts delivered, and plenty more.
Almost 1,000 Cadent colleagues got stuck in at Emmaus communities across the UK.
They’ve helped sort donations, dig trenches, plant gardens, fill in potholes, and joined outreach work during their visits.
These volunteers have not only helped communities complete projects, but they have saved them valuable resources and money which can be used elsewhere.
Cadent generously donated four transit vans to Emmaus communities and covered the cost of re-branding them.
They are now used for outreach work, collections and deliveries, and getting companions around and about.
Companions also learned about different job opportunities and career progression during a visit to Cadent’s main training centre.
Peter, who is supported by Emmaus, said:
“I didn’t know about the whole process of gas engineering before and now I know the basics. It made me more interested in gas engineering as a job.
“As long as you have the commitment to work, it’s good to know the opportunity is there for you.”
At the start of the partnership in 2022, Cadent wanted to help our communities become more energy efficient, to help save them money, and ultimately to become more sustainable.
A special fund was set up for Emmaus communities to apply for funding for projects that would help them environmentally.
Since the fund began, communities have benefited from window replacements, weatherproofing, boiler replacements, roof and cavity wall insulation, and solar panels.
