Inbound marketing agency Digital 22 raised a staggering £2,563 for homelessness charity Emmaus Burnley in 2021, having embarked on FOUR fundraisers in one year.

Emmaus Burnley provides a home, work and personal support to people who have experienced homelessness, which Digital 22 chose to recognise by selecting the organisation as its charity of the year.

Employees at Digital 22 specialise in a range of online marketing skills and kicked off the partnership by creating a documentary that showcases the work of Emmaus Burnley.

FOUR fundraisers

Alongside raising awareness, the team at Digital 22 started fundraising with a 96-mile hike across Scotland’s West Highland Way and a GoFundMe page, where employees donated £1 for every day of fasting during Ramadan.

Staff also collected funds for a team three peaks challenge through GoFundMe, to hike the tallest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in under 24 hours, and two team members, Head of Client Services Andrew Thomas and Design and Development Director Mark Byrne, appealed for sponsorship via Just Giving to run the Yorkshire Marathon for Emmaus Burnley.

Mark said: “Running a marathon has always been on my bucket list. Due to the difficulty of the event, I’ve put it off for years. I needed something to motivate me beyond running the race to get fit or to simply tick off my goal list. Fundraising for Emmaus has given me the motivation to put in the training and attempt the Yorkshire marathon in October this year. Hopefully when I hit the 20-mile wall that all marathon runners talk about, I will have the willpower to push through and complete the race and support such a worthwhile cause”

Giving thanks

Emmaus Burnley supports up to 24 formerly homeless people by providing them with a stable home and meaningful work for as long as they need it. The charity operates two stores in Burnley and Rochdale with all the money raised used to help people out of homelessness.

Digital 22 specialises in the utilisation of HubSpot, which is an inbound marketing and Customer Relationship Manager platform. The company launched in 2011 and has since grown from half a dozen employees to more than 40 with a client list spanning 13 countries.
