On Monday 9 October, the Emmaus Bradford board of trustees took the very difficult decision to initiate the closure of the Emmaus Bradford charity.

This heart-breaking decision was carefully considered by all trustees and has been made following an intensive period of review, analysis and consultation. Multiple factors have contributed to the very challenging position we find ourselves in, amongst which the COVID pandemic and rising operating costs due to the cost-of-living crisis have played their part. Having exhausted numerous alternative options, unfortunately the board have reached the conclusion that this is the only viable way forward.

We are now fully focused on managing the closure of the Emmaus Bradford charity, social enterprise and community building in an orderly and appropriate manner. Our immediate priority is to our people, ensuring our companions find new homes and giving staff the help they need to find new roles. Our charity will continue to trade for the next few months, and any funds raised will go towards providing a home and individual support to our remaining companions.

The Emmaus Bradford board of trustees would like to give sincere thanks to all those who have contributed to our charity. So many people, partners and supporters have enabled us to achieve our aim of helping people who have experienced homelessness, providing them with support to a better future. We are extremely grateful to and very proud of all Emmaus Bradford companions, volunteers, staff and trustees, past and present.
