After finding a home, stability and a purpose at Emmaus Bolton, Keve has now moved on from our homelessness community to become a student.
Keve came to Emmaus Bolton when the added pressures of a relationship breakdown became too great, and he became unable to work or afford a place to live.
With the support of Emmaus Bolton, Keve has been able to get back on his feet and now plans to reinvest in Bolton, a town that helped him so much.
“Having a home is important. Everyone needs a home. Everyone needs a safe place. A place where they feel secure.
“One of the beautiful things about being at Emmaus is that it was a safe place for me for close to three years, where I was able to be part of a community, and be productive at the same time.
“As well as having shelter I was able to work in various roles in numerous social enterprises Emmaus has to offer.
“It was a very good experience, but I knew I wanted to move on. I knew this was just a stepping stone for other things that I had in mind. But whilst I was here, it was a safe home for me.”
“The thing that I found most valuable was having space to grow as well as reflect on what I wanted to do with my life and my future. Part of that was being productive so I wasn’t wasting away or wasting time, I was engaging my skills, abilities and intellect.
“All of that gave me the opportunity after work to think. Being here has made it possible to move on as well.
“What am I doing since I’ve left Emmaus? One of the things I wanted to do was to get involved with property.
“Time is very important to me. I want my time back. So, I have always thought ‘what must I do with money, so I have more time on my hands?’ and I thought property is great. If I can get a passive income with property, it would be a fantastic thing, so I’ve registered on an official property training academy where I get 12 months of training on all things property, so that’s what I’m doing now. I’m a student of property investing and my focus is now investing in Bolton.
“My message to Emmaus supporters is firstly to thank you for your support and for your contributions. Emmaus is a very important community.
“If it wasn’t for Emmaus there would probably be more people homeless in and around Bolton, and the community would be lacking a valuable resource.
“There are so many different enterprises that Emmaus has to offer the community. Just a place people can donate their items and have these items recycled and repurposed and sold on.
“Then you have the café, which is like a hub spot for the community, where people can just get together and have something that is inexpensive and sit and chat and socialise.
“Then there’s the arts and crafts section where people can be inspired to come in and be creative, and discover new ways of doing art.
“Then you have the main shop, which is selling furniture and all sorts of stuff for your household.
“It’s an amazing community. Thank you for all your support. You can really make a world of difference for individuals who are here and I am a testament to that. I have experienced so many blessings while I’ve been here and it’s helped me be the person that I am, so thank you for all your faithful contributions.
