Congratulations to our star volunteer Charlie and our community chef Craig whose efforts at our homelessness charity feature in a brand new cook book!
The Taste of Bolton honours the town’s stories including recipes from celebrities, who have appeared at Bolton Food & Drink Festival, grandmas, young cooks and community groups.
The book features a delicious recipe Charlie made while he was volunteering in our community kitchens as a student at Rumworth 6th form. Charlie is now going on to study catering at Bolton College.
Craig said: “It was a pleasure to help Charlie on his journey to college to becoming a chef. I guided him with the recipe, which he put together using leftover potatoes to make something new and tasty.”
While Charlie was volunteering at Emmaus Bolton, he also learned about customer service at our charity café.
All the many different social enterprises at Emmaus Bolton off Fletcher Street help generate some of the funding needed for our community home and support from homelessness for up to 22 people.
While he was volunteering, Charlie said: “I enjoy contributing to the charity work here. I feel like everyone who is supported by the charity deserves a second chance.
“I enjoy my work experience here, to progress myself. Everyone has a great sense of humour and are very approachable and likeable. It’s great to have this on my CV so employers can see I’m hardworking and enjoy working with lots of different people.”
