Welcome to Emmaus St Albans
Emmaus St.Albans first opened at the beggining of 2002. The building originally used to be old nurses homes for the old Cell Barnes Hospital, based on Hillend Lane.
At Emmaus St.Albans we have 2 shops, One joined to the community building and one in Batford (Harpenden). Both Shops accept donations of household furniture, some electrical goods, toys and books, Bric-a-Brac, bicycles, collectables and antiques.
Some of the scratched and marked wooden furniture gets put in our woodwork shop for some TLC then go into our shop along with the rest of the items we pick up, and the money raised goes towards funding the community.
At Emmaus St.Albans we also have an EBAY account, on which we sell collectables and antiques. To visit this page please click here or go to our Shops page.
Companions
At Emmaus St.Albans we currently have 23 companions and have the capacity to house 24. Currently we have 4 companions doing part time college courses, 2 of which are currently are currently doing computer courses to further their knowledge, and another is doing an English course.
We have also successfully re-housed a former companion who has been in different Emmaus communities for 9 years, 3 of which were at Emmaus St.Albans. He now has a flat, provided by the council.
