New Emmaus shop opens in Preston

Terry Waite, President of Emmaus UK, was joined by the Mayor of Preston, Trustees, Staff and Companions from Emmaus Preston at the recent opening of the latest Emmaus shop.

The new Emmaus Preston shop is open from 10 a.m - 5 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, with half day closing on Wednesdays, and can be found at 49 - 50 Friargate. It's already doing well, with several hundred pounds taken in the first couple of days' trading.

"The phone hasn't stopped ringing," says Emmaus Preston Director, Glen Lockett. "We've had some fantastic donations from local people, some really good quality things."

The areas in the shop are 'themed' as different rooms - see above - and there is plenty of space to wander round and browse through the furniture and items on display. "The shop gives us a great opportunity to promote the work of Emmaus Preston, giving local homeless people a place to live and work," adds Glen.

Emmaus Preston is currently home to 10 Companions.
