Paris Salon sale beats 2008 total

During an exhausting but exhilarating weekend, Companions, volunteers and staff from 12 different Communities in the UK, filled their vans with bric-a-brac and small furniture items and drove to Paris for the 10th Emmaus Salon.

The Paris Salon is an annual event organised by Emmaus France. Its purpose is to raise funds for the Solidarity programmes run by Emmaus International, such as the Nokoue water project in Benin. The Salon takes place in the Parque des Expositions in Paris and takes the form of a giant jumble sale. 180 Emmaus Communities from all over Europe converge on Paris, bringing goods, and set up their stalls in the exhibition area. The sale lasts one day.

This year 23,000 visitors came to the Paris Salon and the takings were up 10% on last year. The team worked hard to sell the stock from the UK, with teapots and tea sets being the best sellers.
