Himalayan Christmas for Emmaus Hampshire supporter
Moira Hunter has never climbed a serious hill or spent a single night in a tent, but on 18th December the intrepid Emmaus Hampshire supporter sets off for the Himalayas for what will be a very different Christmas and New Year.
The fundraising trip will combine Moira's long-time dream of trekking to Everest Base Camp with her determination to help Emmaus Hampshire. As she says: "I have seen a little of the immense hard work it has taken to get the Emmaus Hampshire project together and simply wanted to help in any way I could."

When it opens in Spring 2009, the Emmaus Hampshire Community will have spaces for 23 formerly homeless men and women who will work in its furniture recycling business, aiming to become self sufficient in three years. Funds raised by Moira and like-minded supporters will help support the Community in its first few years.
Asked how she first became involved with Emmaus, Moira said: "It was a visit to Emmaus Leeds that originally inspired me. I could see that the positive atmosphere in the Community was really helping Companions at a time in their life when everything was at rock bottom."
