Emmaus is a charity which offers previously homeless people a home, work and the chance to regain self respect in a supportive community environment. Residents work full time in a Community business, collecting, renovating and re-selling donated furniture through our Community shops. There are currently 15 Emmaus communities across the UK. We are seeking people to join our committee to work with us to set up and run our Community business in Preston.
This Volunteer role enables you to use your skills to help with running a shop. You will be enthusiastic and happy to get stuck into various tasks and preferably, though not essentially; you will have skills in at least one of the following areas: retail, manual handling, van driving, stock control, sorting and preparation of items for sale, creating attractive displays, administration, a knowledge of books or a knowledge of antiques. Knowledge of the Preston area would also be an advantage. We offer all volunteers support and a comprehensive training programme.
