Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire
The community house has been the home of Emmaus in Coventry & Warwickshire since 1993. It is an old building dating back to about 1650 with many special features. Since Emmaus restored and moved into the building in 1992 it has accommodated many people who would otherwise have had no home. Emmaus over the last 12 years has given those men and women a home, voluntary employment but more importantly a reason to get out of their bed. Moreover Emmaus communities give people a real feeling of belonging, which in turn gives them confidence and self respect. All of which if you are homeless and on the streets is driven out of you by the way other people treat you.
What we do
Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire is situated on two sites in Coventry. Our companions live at The Old Vicarage on the Brinklow Road which is set in an acre and a half of it’s own grounds. Any companion with gardening skills take pleasure in keeping these grounds neat and tidy (as well as looking after our resident goat - Eagle) We are also in the process of growing our own produce in our small allotment which will help us towards our aim to being self sufficient. We can accommodate up to 15 homeless adults - male and female. We supply accommodation, all meals, basic clothing and toiletries along with support within a secure environment. In return, the companions work within our community to the best of their abilities. This can be in the home, on the grounds or in our shop at 70 RED LANE. Our shop is where we sell good quality second hand furniture, electrical items and Bric-a- Brac. We also have a fully equipped workshop where we renovated some furniture, do French Polishing and make our own items (Bird Boxes and Bird Tables proving to be very popular!) Our companions also work as part of our Van Crew; collecting donated furniture and delivering sold items. We also undertake small Removals and House Clearances.
